Innovative Ground-based Infrared Hyperspectral Device Improves Environmental Monitoring

Mar 19, 2024

Researchers led by Prof. LI Dacheng from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have developed a high-spectral device capable of meeting high-precision continuous measurements - the Ground-based Infrared Hyperspectral Spectrometer. This device is designed to continuously and accurately assess the radiation characteristics of both the atmosphere and the Earth's surface, providing critical data to better understand changes in our environment.

Understanding changes in the atmosphere is crucial to remote sensing and our understanding of the Earth's systems. Accurate hyperspectral measurements are essential for obtaining atmospheric parameters and calibrating space-based sensors. They ensure the reliability of optical remote sensing data and improve our understanding of the Earth-atmosphere system.

In this study, the researchers worked with their international partners to improve the environmental adaptability of hyperspectral equipment.

They improved the measurement accuracy of hyperspectral equipment under long-term unattended conditions to meet the requirements of hyperspectral observations in the automatic observation of atmospheric and environmental characteristics.

At the same time, the improvement and adjustability of the spectral resolution of hyperspectral equipment provide better adaptability for the acquisition of spectral data information.
